Club Engen: Bring Back Barcelos

With the famous Cape Town Club Engen re-opening many local hearts have been broken upon the news that Barcelos has been replaced by Steers and Debonairs… If you don’t know what Barcelos is, or in fact a Double Delicious, then well you can’t really call yourself a joller in Cape Town. Everyone who has ended up in the vicinity of the CBD around 4am has almost 100% tried something from Club Engen.

Above: The famous Double Delicious meal that has revitalised so many drunk bastards at all hours of the morning in Cape Town. Tangy Lemon & Veri Peri were definitely the favourite flavours in my books, for just R39.95 2 awesome chicken burgers & chips… God I am going to miss these!!!

For those still in the dark, it is that 24 hour Engen garage in Gardens where all the drunks of Cape Town end up at the early hours of the morning. The Woolworth’s there is said to be the highest turning in the whole of South Africa. I wouldn’t bet against it, as I have spend a good few R1000 there myself after drunken escapes! So, we say goodbye to Cape Town’s staple diet of Double Delicious burger meals and hello to probably the worst pizza outlet (other than Scooters) in the Country…

Barcelos was so good and such a value for money offering even the Nando’s staff used to eat there! Awesome picture caught by 2 Oceansvibe!

Like, share, retweet or re-blog this post to help gather the cretins and maybe we can hustle someone to add a Barcelos franchise to their forecourt somewhere near the CBD!!! The death of a true Cape Town legend, I will miss you Barcelos!

I won’t lie the half chicken, chips & salad meal was also top class. They had it all and even used to have some of the most strong minded staff in the business. Some of the shit those poor ladies got put through was diabolical!
