Your RTD 2013 Festival Guide!

With the excitement on Facebook and Twitter going pretty much mental this week, I thought I would share the FULL #RTD2013 FESTIVAL GUIDE with all you hipsters, rockers and jollers! Can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us, see you on the dance floor 🙂

1. When is everything going down?

Campsite gates open: 15:00 on Thursday

Campsite entertainment starts: 18:00

Main Festival Area opens: 11:00 on Friday

Main Festival Area entertainment starts: 11:05

Gate closing times nightly: 02:00 – 08:00

Sunday gates close: 14:00

2. Getting there

Don’t get lost! Directions from Cape Town: Take N7 to Malmesbury. Follow signs for darling. Turn left off main road, after brief double back, turn right at T-junction (onto r315). Cross one railway line and after about 10km you’ll cross a 2nd railway line. Immediately after this, on the left, is Darling Cellars. Turn left in front of Darling Cellars, following signs to Cloof along dirt road.

Car Pool – Do yourself a favour and grab a lift with a friend because if you have a full car of passengers you could get special parking. The first 1000 people to arrive in a carpool will be given priority parking closer to the festival!

Parking – For your safety and that and of everyone else at the festival, parking and camping is separate. Fear not! It’s within easy waking distance and there will be porters to help carry your things.

All special needs customers are welcome at Rocking the Daisies, please read more about our special needs facilities HERE.

3. What’s cool and not cool

Let’s get the ‘not cool’ out of the way shall we? NO Glass, NO Fires, NO Illegal Substances, NO Firearms, NO Weapons, NO animals, NO Drone Cameras. All persons attending Rocking the Daisies 2013 do so at their own risk.

This year there will be strictly NO U18’s allowed at the festival. Although U12’s have been invited in previous years, the SAPS has informed us that we will no longer be able to open the festival to anyone under 18 years of age. ID must be presented upon request – Please have your ID or drivers license ready to be checked by our security at the gate.

Alcohol – You are welcome to consume your own alcohol in the camping areas but NO alcohol is allowed in the Main Festival Area. Water bottles will be permitted.

PLEASE LOOK AFTER YOUR VALUABLES AT THE FESTIVAL!

Unfortunately dodgy characters operate in crowded and festival environments, and at times manage to slip past our security’s radar. Please be aware of your valuables at all times and take responsibility for your things. For info on security, emergency services and lost property procedures, please click HERE.

Now, let’s get onto the really cool stuff!

Our new RTD Mobile App has gone live and it’s awesome! Browse the line-up, create your own schedule, locate your tent and car and navigate yourself to those important water points. The app is a must have for keeping you up to date with everything going down at the festival. You can download it for iPhone via iTunes, for Android on Google Play and the BlackBerry version will be out soon. Watch out for updates via the festival app before the event.

We also have our very own Cloof Wine Estate RTD red and white wine available for purchase at selected Pick n Pay stores across the Western Cape. Packaged in the new recyclable PET plastic bottle, our wine is festival friendly and the perfect drink to share with your mates. It will be on sale at the festival for R30 a bottle.

You can also order the wine online at www.cloofwines.co.za or email orders@cloof.co.za
Delivery is free if you live within a 60km radius from Cloof Wine Estate and order a minimum of 6 bottles.

Eco-conscious event management is one of RTD’s main priorities and it is our mission to host a clean, green festival – we’ve won many awards for it and aim to continue with our motto of “Play Hard, Tread Lightly”.

Leave no trace: If you pack it in, pack it out. Please don’t litter and do your little bit for mankind by throwing your rubbish away in a nearby bin – That goes for cigarettes too!

For more info on our eco/social elements and waste management click here.

4. Getting Practical

Pack for all four seasons! Don’t forget warm clothes and bedding for the nights and your bikini’s or swimming cossies for the days – Let’s not forget the fun stuff like beach balls and 9ft inflatable animals.

Lock for your tent – Use a combination one if you’re one to lose your keys. We also have lockers available for hire in the campsite by Smart Locker. Click here to pre-book your locker for the full weekend.
