I did my Learner’s Licence today at Gallows Hill Traffic Department in Green Point, Cape Town. I have heard story after story about doing your Learner’s and the problems about the pass rates. I went to book my appointment on 12 July 2010, the morning after the FIFA World Cup Final, as I thought it would be empty. I was correct and waited about 15 minutes all in all to get the forms, do my eye test and finally pay at the window to book my appointment.
There is a great online test at www.trafficsigns.co.za, where 305 random questions can be answered and revision can be done on the questions you did not answer correctly. To be 100% honest I studied for about a total of 5 hours yesterday, interrupted by Paul Newman’s going away party from 17h15 pm – 20h00 pm. I then watched Star Trek and read a little bit before bed. I woke up this morning, did the test online and got 1 answer wrong. So, I read over the K53 book once more and then hung around a bit on Facebook and Sky Sports News till I had to leave to write at 13h00 pm.
I arrived at Gallows Hill and almost immediately went into the classroom where we wrote the test. The invigilator was excellent and explained everything in immense detail to ensure no one made any stupid errors. 3 people did their motorbike Learner’s, 13 their Light Vehicle and 4 Their truck Learner’s. I finished the test in about 35 minutes and I must admit was one of the easiest things I have ever done. This made me wonder how on earth the pass rate is only 60%, meaning 40 % of people who write, actually fail this piss easy test!
But I must say the Gallows Hill Traffic Team were great and everything went along smoothly. The most entertaining thing for me was the big, blonde chick who went jumping around and shouting after she passed…on the 4th try!
See you soon for my Driver’s, I have a feeling that won’t be as easy thought!
Pass my learners as well!
Did you do your license at Greenpoint also?
Theres an online test at drivecodrivingschool.co.za for cars trucks and motorbikes
