Mynt Cafe: Restaurant Of The Week

If you’re a close friend, acquaintance, mutual friend, follow me on any of my social media profiles, or even a hater… you’ll most certainly know that I live by the Entertainer App. If you don’t know what it is, well then you’ve been missing out or living under a rock somewhere? But never fear, here’s my full blog post [click here] on why the entertainer (along with Uber) is the best app I have ever come across, plus why you shouldn’t live without it! I saved a total of R5,613 last year using the app on dining out, entertainment, presents, and man spoils. I’ve already save a total of R498 this year and three dining occasions.

MYNT Cafe: #RestOfTheWeekCPT

I found in the first year of using Entertainer in 2014, we were always undecided where to dine, what was good and always ended up at the same spots. After a few requests on Twitter, I decided to feature and review a new spot each week for my readers, to help them decide on rad restaurants that are Entertainer friendly around the Mother City! This year we have started a “weekly boys dinner” in which we try a new restaurant each week, and it’s already been killer. So here goes my first review of a rad Cafe style spot on Camps Bay strip ‘- MYNT!

Mynt Cafe

We were greeted by one of their brand new staff Lexington, and I enjoyed that he was open and honest when we asked him what were the most popular dishes. His reply was “eish guys I am new, so I don’t want to lie to you. Let me call my friend who has been here a long time!” We were told that their seafood is always a winner, but they do offer steaks, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads and more. They also have some nice starters to choose from, including chicken strips, mussels marinara and a bunch of others.

After a good while of menu browsing, I decided on the grilled Patagonian Calamari done in chilli, garlic and lemon. This comes with a side of your choice, and the vegetable rice was a winner! My mate Grant went with exactly the same dish, having both come direct from the gym, this seemed like a light and healthy chow for the boys. Daniel went for the Fresh Mussels served in the white wine and garlic sauce, with fries. For me this was the pick of the bunch, not to mention it came with some toasted French bread, and a pool of dipping sauce! Definitely had some food envy when his arrived.

My other homie Angelo is a meat eater, and usually goes the red meat route on these excursions. Yesterday was no different, and he went with the 500g succulent pork ribs basted in a tangy BBQ sauce. That too comes with a choice of main, chips being the obvious choice there! Overall the food was very good, portions were big, the service was speedy, the chicks next to us were hot as, and we will most certainly be back for round two!

We ended up saving R300 on our bill with the Entertainer App, and final bill came to R444 which we always split down the middle. That included two large bottles of still water, three cokes, coffee and a juice!

Mynt nachos

Some other dishes that came out the kitchen looking delicious were the norwegian salmon, nachos, grilled chicken sandwich (which can be done as a wrap too), the burgers and the fresh salads which the dolls next to us tucked into! I had a browse at their website, and their breakfasts look pretty damn good too. They have an extensive cocktail list, wine list, and delicious desserts. You can see the full menu below.
