Pistorius Charged With Murder

It’s was a sad day in SA yesterday as news broke that Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius had shot and killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Not a nice way for their family, friends and a Nation who worship the hero after his heroics at the able athletes version of the games! It was first understood that Pistorius mistook Reeva for an intruder, but after hearing on the radio now that he has been accused of premeditated murder one can only wonder… The police will argue this case as Oscar seek justice!

He has been accused of shooting his girlfriend 4 times through a bathroom door! The 26 year old gold medallist wept uncontrollably as he was charged with murder at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. Police are yet to confirm this information, but it’s going around the media and he will appear in court again on Tuesday as his case has been postponed. All I can say from my side is RIP Reeva, I didn’t know her but many friends do and it’s sad to see her life taken at such a young age 🙁

Eye Witness News:

Eyewitness News understands that Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair will preside over the application. Nair regularly handles high profile cases, like that of rugby player Bees Roux’s case. All matters scheduled for this courtroom have been moved elsewhere. Prosecuters Gerrie Nel and Andrea Johnson will be spearheading the case on behalf of the state. Court officials have also confirmed that Director of Public Prosecutions, Sibongile Mzinyathi, is also in court. The seriousness of the murder charge Oscar Pistorius faces means he’ll have to prove exceptional circumstances to be released on bail. It’s understood a senior prosecutor has been assigned to the matter and the state will oppose the bail application. This could mean a lengthy stay in jail for the Blade Runner.
