I have just been send this email by PG Selele, who is a Lieutenant Colonel for the South African Police Services. He is trying to raise awareness about this new drug which students are consuming, thinking it is candy! This is not a joke and please tell your kids or anyone that you know with kids about it. At the end of the day they are the future of our Country and it is vital that they do not get exposed to life threatening drugs at such a young age! The message reads as follows:

This is a new drug  known as ‘strawberry quick ‘.  There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of.  There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and ‘pops’ in your mouth). It also smells  like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.

It comes in all 'flavours' and colours. Beware!

Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry,  grape and orange. Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.

Do not be fooled by it's cheap, enticing packaging!

Pass this email on to as many people as you can (even if they don’t have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies from occurring. Thanks a million and keep a look out for scums that are aiming to get the children hooked!

    Hoax or Fact?

It is proven that some Meth dealers will flavour their product.

The only reports of flavoured Meth being recovered emanate from the USA.

Most authorities consider the circulation of this ‘warning’ to be a hoax mail, especially in a South African context.

See: Wikipedia and Hoaxslayer for more.

And, remember kids, accepting Candy from the cubbyhole of a stranger could be worse!

Could be either…If it is a hoax then I got punked! But I thought I would put it out there anyway…
