Liverpool have confirmed that they have received an official bid from Inter Milan for holding midfielder Javier Mascherano. It was said the midfield rock refused to play against City on Monday night as he seeks a move away from the Anfield outfit. Last season Liverpool found themselves struggling after the loss of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid and could find themselves in a similar position this season. Lucas has been far from influential, whilst new signing Aquilani has been sent out on loan, leaving little support for Steven Gerrard! Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the Reds are in talks to sign Fulham full back Paul Konchesky as they look to prize the experienced left footer away from Craven Cottage.

Spurs reached the promised land last night after they came back from a 3-2 aggregate to win 6-3 overall. They won 4-0 at White Heart Lane against the Young Boys, with a hat-trick from Peter Crouch and a strike from Jermain Defoe. It will be the first time in 48 years that Spurs have reached the group stages of the world’s most prestige football showcase as they also hope to stake a claim in the PL with their improved squad. Giovanni Dos Santos looks a completely new player after going out on 2 consecutive loans spells and is tipped to do great things in the future. He is tricky, fast, skillful and has a hunger to win games as he showed for Mexico in the World Cup.

In the other European tie for the night Ajax reached the group stages after Luis Suarez fired them to victory. Shevchenko did manage pull 1 back to leave a nervy ending for Martin Jol’s side, but it has been 5 years since they made the group stages of the competition and the hunger showed! Suarez can’t stop scoring and I’m sure he will be prized away from the Dutch giants as they have a lack of financial backing to build on their squad. The funds that Suarez would bring in could add another 4 quality players, which would help bolster an already strong squad.
