Moses Sithole – SA’s most notorious serial killer

For all you bandwidth bandits out there, below is the 5 part series which goes into a lot more detail about SA's most notorious serial killer, Moses "ABC" Sithole. Enjoy!

Moses Sithole was born on November 17, 1964. He took the lives of 38+ people during his career and was later named the “ABC killer”, as his escapades began in Atteridgville, continued in Boksburg and finished in Cleveland, a suburb of Johannesburg. Sithole used to lure his victims by pretending to be a businessmen. At times even going to the extent of creating a fictional charity organisation in order to capture his victims.

After Moses gained their trust he would walk with them through the velt to the “Business Headquarters”, where he would overpower, strangle and rape them, once they were out of sight and out of mind…This caused such an uproar in the Johannesburg area, that a nationwide panic was created. He was eventually turned in by his brother-in-law, after calling a local journalist and identifying himself as the man on the run. His beloved brother was meant to organise a gun and transport for the killer, but instead notified the authorities and turned his brother in.

He was officially the deepest guy in SA during the '90's...

On December 5, 1997, Sithole was sentenced to 50 years imprisonment for each of the 38 murders, 12 years imprisonment for each of the 40 rapes, and five years imprisonment for each of the six robberies. That meant he was to be under ball and chain for over 2 410 years before he saw the light of day again! The judge gave him a minimum sentence of 930 years and that was good enough to ensure he would not kill or rape again.
