I am pretty sure I was the first one to write about this growing sport on the interweb. I tried it out one day at Camps Bay beach, but being a footballer I stayed away because ankle injuries are a real threat on these death traps… Unless you are one of these beasts and actually know what you are doing! Check out some of my previous articles and GoPro video’s about the local skimming scene in Cape Town if you are keen to see what the local talent is up to! [Camps Bay Skimmers With GoPro]. With the launch of the SkimZA website, run by my mate Sean, the sport is only going to grow further in the near future.
Sean took a trip to have a session with the Durban boys, who in my opinion are streaks ahead of our boys. Not talent wise, but because they already have numerous sponsors on board and if I am not mistaken actually get free Kauai every single day!!! Check out Sean’s 6 day Durbs skim adventure, all crammed into under 4 minutes. Oh and it definitely would not be the same without the GoPro, that little device is a must for any extreme or water sports fanatics! If you are interested about investing in one of these sick HD fish eye, waterproof camera’s give me a shout. I can hook you up lekker 😉 Enjoy and thanks to Sean for the clip! Also keep an eye out for his interview on 2 Oceans Vibe Radio soon…
