The new logo has finally been launched for the Cape Town Stadium. It has a very simple, clean, yet strong design style that is synonymous with the stadium and a direct reflection of Cape Town. It has been designed to specifically depict that the stadium can be used for more than just sports matches, also including big events and concerts.
Morne du Plessis, chairperson of SAIL STADEFRANCE who are the operators of the Cape Town Stadium has said: “We looked at the features around the stadium – the mountain, the sea, the lush flora and others, but we realised that the most defining feature of the stadium wasn’t what was around it, but the actual shape of the structure itself.”
Green was chosen as the main colour as it represents the lush area that surrounds Cape Town. More importantly it pays homage to the area in which it is situated and its predecessor, Green Point Stadium.
I like it, simple, clean, stylish and bold enough – wonder why they missed out the cross likes on the As?
