The word on the street is that Adidas secured a ten year contract way back when, in order to ensure they were the brand leading Bafana to the FIFA 2010 World Cup, in South Africa last year. As soon as the contract expired, Adidas saw it as the perfect time to take their sponsorship spend elsewhere, as they have gained the brand awareness and affiliation they were after. Puma today announced their new partnership with Bafana Bafana, launching their new kit at Soccer City earlier this afternoon.
Quite a clever move by Adidas if you ask me, but Puma will now look to the African Cup of Nations to be the ideal platform to secure this new relationship and create some awesome campaigns to eradicate the association Bafana previously had with super brand Adidas! If anyone at Adidas or Puma has any other information please contact me on dylan2580@gmail.com. What do you guys think about the new strip?
this is a very ugly jersey ever…this was a wrong decision…i just dont feel it on bafana bafana.it is so, so ugly
Thanks Senzo. Did you know that after Bafana has moved to Puma, every single African nation that was present at the World Cup are now sponsored by Puma!
whoever designed this shirt should decapitated in public. it looks like a kit for a primary School B team!!!!!!!! seriously what happened to creative people around here?!
I agree the kit could have bee a bit more creative. We just had the 2010 WC here, surely we could have drawn some inspiration from the month long event and incorporated it into the kit atleast?
