George ‘Simply The’ Best – 5 Year Anniversary Today

Best's legacy also lives on in the hearts and minds of many United fans, particularly those who were fortunate enough to see him play live and leave defenders with "twisted blood" (to coin Paddy Crerand's famous phrase). R.I.P Georgy, you will never be forgotten.

Man, am I bleak that I never got to see this God of football run down the wing at The Theatre Of Dreams – Old Trafford 🙁 Best was one of the greatest players to ever join United and he will never be forgotten by the Mighty Red fans. He passed away 5 years ago today, on the 25 November 2005. “ In a breathtaking manifestation of the beautiful game’s grief, the pavements of Sir Matt Busby Way, Old Trafford became a shrine to the football genius in the hours and days following the news of his death” – manutd.com

I have been watching some of his memorial video’s on YouTube and my word, could this man dlala (as they would say in South Africa) George was not only a beast on the pitch, but always loved a pint or 2 after the game and was a big big fan amongst the female market 😉 His Beetle like style caught the eye wherever he went and apparently his autobiography is one of the best ever made, excuse the pun…Sir Alex had said on United’s website and I quote; “The thing about George that has always remained with me is the incredible courage he had. He’d always take the ball and run at defenders knowing they were going to hack at him and kick him. That’s the kind of courage you love to see.” – Sir Alex Ferguson

George, Dennis & Bobby chilling where they belong...At Old Trafford!

You can go to www.manutd.com to leave a message out of respect for this gentleman/utter beast! George is now immortalised alongside his fellow players, Sir Bobby Charlton and Dennis Law in an attempt to highlight their partnership on and off the park. I have chosen 3 of the best memorial messages and posted them for you. Even if you don’t want to leave your own, do yourself a favour and go read some of them. These are what I call messages from deep down in the heart of real supporters.

Best’s legacy also lives on in the hearts and minds of many United fans, particularly those who were fortunate enough to see him play live and leave defenders with “twisted blood” (to coin Paddy Crerand’s famous phrase). R.I.P Georgy, you will never be forgotten. P.S. I hope you have a huge pint, a ball, some fit ladies, a massive television and you are sitting alongside some of your best mates in Heaven to ensure you keep us on our toes, as you did throughout your career 😉

Hey there! Appreciate the nice site. Keep writing! 🙂

Georgi was the best OT ever saw. Ronaldo had nothing on him!

Wish I could have seen the man play 🙁 Ronaldo’s time at OT may have been short, but he was one of the most influencial in history during that time! Pity the boys don’t party like old Bestie did anymore though 😉
