Interview – DJ Humerous

I have loved music all my life. Ended School and didn’t know what to do, so I decided to do a Sound Engineering Degree at Cape Audio College. I passed and said I’m ready to take on the sound industry.

B ecause I love jolling like no one else on earth I decided some Interviews with DJ’s might be something cool to do. So here is the first of the entries with a good mate, David Miller, also known in the Psy Trance Scene as HUMEROUS.

Humerous adjusting the levels.

1. How did you come up with the name Humerous?

I came up with Humerous because in Numerology it represents the numbers 3, 4 and 8 which represents being responsible, while making money and having mega fun.

2. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Camps Bay… Then moved to Fresnaye and now live in Claremont. But I have moved around alot since leaving the nest, so I’m pretty much a nomad. Although I’m back at home now with my mommy, she keeps my head screwed on straight 😉

3. I know the only reason you moved back home is for the food boy, haha. Do you have any siblings?

Yeah Andrew is my twin brother, he now lives in Joburg and is working in the property game. My older brother Matthew is the more quiet one, although he is definitely the brains in the operation!

4. What do u get up to in your spare time?

Try play golf although that hardly ever happens, surf and spread the word about my Dj-ing. I enjoy a good party and am always keen to go on an adventure into the wilderness!

5. What persuaded you to enter the music scene?

I have loved music all my life. Ended School and didn’t know what to do, so I decided to do a Sound Engineering Degree at Cape Audio College. I passed and said I’m ready to take on the sound industry.

6. What genres of music do you play?

Progressive, Fusion, Techno…The reason for my styles of music is because women dance better than men, and they are better to look at too. I love watching those belters wobbling their asses to my beats in the South African sun.

6. Blondes or Brunettes?

Blonde’s with green eyes. Blonde’s have more fun 😉

7. Who is/was your biggest influence?

That’s a tough one because I draw inspiration from so many different artists.  My Biggest influence are as follows:
Regan
Protoculture
Headroom
Rinkadink
Chromotone
Ace Ventura
Suntree
Easy Rider
Blue tunes record
Ibogo Records
Iono music
Nano Records

8. When is the ideal time for you to play?

Late Day or the beginning warm up set, or late morning.

9. What record label are you currently with?

Psynopticz and hopefully one of my favourites in the near future.

David, Andrew and Ross Snowdon with our usual breakfast punch

10. If you could play at any 3 parties this season, which would they be?

Vortex, Earth dance and obviously your birthday at New Years Rezonance 😉

11. Where can people catch you out and about?

Camps Bay with my mates in the summer on the beach or at Bang Bang on a Thursday night for Psynopticz. Caprice on a Sunday is always eventful, Fiction and wherever the party is pumping. I really enjoy The Assembly at the moment, especially after a good few Passion Bombs at Castle Bar around the corner. The Balcanology party there last Saturday was rocking bra!

12. What is your favourite record label at the moment?

That’s an easy one, it has to be Nano Records or Iono music!

13. What is your favourite food/drink combination?

Margarita cocktail with a rare cooked 300g sirloin with veg and fries. Or a spinach and feta french loaf at 4am from the Engen 24 hour One Stop 😉

14. How do you promote yourself?

Word of mouth or my Profiles on Sound Cloud or Face book. My email address: dangerous.millerster@gmail.com or Hysterica.co.za if anyone needs to get hold of me for advice, questions or to book me for events. My MySpace, Twitter accounts and my new logo are currently under construction, watch this space!

I also like to promote my personal life on a dating site called Zoosk, great place to find sexy singles from the area. mmm! HAHA

Humerous and Rosso in the mincer.

15. Private Jet or Super Yacht?

Super Yacht PLEASE!!!

16. Beef or Pork?

Beef bro, I hate the ghazza!!!

17. Where do you see the trance scene in 5 years?

I see it growing into a larger scene, more people, more events. The music is going to slow down a few BPM’s ( I hope ), more electro/techno style will influence it hugely.

18. And what about your own career in 2 years time?

I see must self in 2years, being well recognized as a Dj/Producer. Released a couple of compilations and my own E.p’s and being signed to my dream record label.

From Peace to Pieces – He's not arrogant, it's his destiny. LOL

Awe, thanks very much for the interview. I am looking forward to the future and meeting my fans on the nearest dance floor.
