Cape Town Marijuana March 2012 [video]

Over the weekend a bunch of iry people took to the streets of Cape Town for the annual Cape Town Marijuana March… It is pretty clear what their intentions are, free the weed! I personally don’t know if this would be a very good idea, although I do agree the use of hemp for means such as textiles and paper could be very beneficial to our government. Thanks to my buddies over at Below The Lion for the footage.

Respect to the guys who attended and fought for the cause, what are your thoughts on the legalisation of bud in our City? Maybe decriminalisation for personal use, but making it completely legal, maybe not! But hey, that’s just my opinion if you have any views on this please comment below I would dig to hear them?

Some iry brothers kup a reefer on the march and pose for the camera… I wonder how many joints got slewed throughout the day, must have been a shit load!!!

Why not make it completely legal? Making it illegal only serves to push it underground, clump it with other less ok drugs and organised crime. Legalise, keep it above board. There’s nothing medically or otherwise wrong with weed. Watch “The Union” for very good info on this topic.

Many SAPS workers, social workers, doctors and others all agree that criminalising it causes more issues than the actual THC itself.

Yeah I am all for de-criminalisation… Just don’t think full legalisation is the right idea, but thanks for the comment! IRY

Well freaking said, i completely agree. The Union (The Business Behind Getting High) is definitely one of the best docs to watch on this topic. I have it, if anyone wants to borrow!

Look I have nothing against people who smoke or use dagga at all. In fact I don;t think it is even half as bad as alcohol, but complete legalisation I don’t think is the right option… But that’s just my opinion!

Free the weed and tax it. Imagine what this little plant could do for poor rural areas.

We need education, not fear tactics. Everyone over the age of 18 should have the right to choose… kinda like booze.

Yip nothing against it if it will bring in money for the government, PROVIDED they actually redistribute it correctly. Knowing our muppets though it would probably just open more doors to corruption opportunities. Shot for the comment PIPER!

I can think of no political right more fundamental than the right to peacefully steward the contents of one’s own consciousness…

Alcohol and Tobacco kill hundreds of people daily and there still has been no recorded deaths directly from marijuana!

    Legalize & Regulate!

I agree with MR Cape town……

Legalization will NOT solve the problem.

As I don’t believe bud is as bad as “they” say I know you stoners (as I am one too) will have enough brain cells left to understand how our government works…..

This is what will happen if legalization occurs.

Day 1: Bud is legal * yay *

Day 2: Some corporate “fat cat” will receive the tender to be the sole distributer due to his ties with our “corrupt” buddies in our government. * 🙁 *

Day 3: Laws are passed within this agreement to ONLY give the tender owner (and the people he sells his rights to) the right to grow/sell (this makes bud for us once again Illegal for us)

Day 3: Bud and everything it stands for i ruined. We will all be getting goefed on some genetically modified crap so the government can make even more money.

Now on the other hand if it was decriminalized we could just plop a pip (seed) in a pot on your window watch it grow, cut it dry it cure it and SMOKE it….

Much love and respect to you all who went on the march! I did not know about it sadly!
