Just a few days until we kick out 2010 and bring in an exciting and potential-filled new year- and what better way to ring it in than in the midst of a rocking concert in the heart of the Mother City! Cape Town get ready to rock on the biggest night of the year – New Years Eve – as 5FM (NYE) 5 Presents NuWave New Years Eve Concert at The V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.
Nuwave and 5FM have lined up an incredible list of HOT South African bands, along with 5Fm dj talent, to see in 2011 LIVE and LOUD. Six of South Africa’s most celebrated bands in the country will bring in the New Year alongside some 5FM DJ favourites. The line-up will include aKing, Zebra & Giraffe, Just Jinjer, CrashCarBurn, Goodluck and Dance, You’re on Fire with various DJ’s and MC’s headlined by and including 5FM’s Anele, Rob Vember and Elma Smit.

The band was formed in 2007 and has since released 2 albums, both to high acclaim, Dutch Courage released in 2008 followed by Against All Odds in early 2009. The band has toured extensively and has been playlisted on various national radio stations including 5FM. The band is currently working on its third studio album, due for release in 2011.

Goodluck are an instrumental upshot from Cape Town, quickly rising through the ranks withtheir finely polished act that fuses Electronica, rock and live instruments. We have all had our fair share of eventful nights out, let alone when it happens to be NYE…I am a bit bored of the whole comment and like thing being used for competitions, but time is of the essence and we need to find some winners! I am not going to say you have to like any pages, just simply comment below with your best/worst ever New Years experience! Way back in the day I attended a NYE bash at the river club and been still very adventurous and naughty at the time was consuming a lot of alcohol and anything else that came my way! One of these being a punch that was spiked with only God knows what, added to that copious amounts of coke, poppers and the likes but I am pretty sure it was the punch that did the trick! After seeing in the new year things got pretty hectic and after nearly drowing in my vomit passed out and then landed at Groote Schuur as my mates and the medics could not resuscitate me! Apparently they shot me full of adrenaline to get the heart going and soon I was back up and running and ready to go out and about again and had to sign a pink”RHT” slip(refusing hosiptal treatment), in order to get out of hospital! I walked back to river club, bumping into a mate of mine on the way there who passed on a couple of double strength ohms(acid) which put a cherry on the top!!! After a couple more hours on the dance floor my trip statrted going bad and in my freaked out state half ran half astro travelled back to the hospital but was refused help by the Doctors as the wanted to teach me a lesson I suppose. I ended up hiding out the rest of the early hours in the deserted corridors of the old Hospital until my hallucinations calmed down in order for me to go home.

OK, not close to a near death experience as Wayne but here goes….It was a vortex NYE at the apple farm and it was absolutely belting with rain. We had a massive crew [about 12 peeps] and were running extremely late as we all wanted to be at the dance floor main area for the NYE countdown. Thing is we needed to get this huge army 20 man tent up. This erection had no fancy fold up beams bru – this was one of those heavy duty tents – government standard. Armed with a hammer trying to put this damn thing up in this tempestuous storm – everyone doing there damn best…. WE hear the cheers in the background about 5kms away. We frekin missed new years 🙁 !!!! drenched, deflated and defeated – we start to fight amongst ourselves and the words soon started to become hammer blows. Long story short, we had to get rid of the bodies in the lake…. lol ok the last part aint true but was just trying to spice up my boring story of how we missed the NYE countdown at vortex.
ok so my new years wasnt as epic as mr wayne or mr trance kop ray. but i was 16, so it was mooi for me. one of my buddies decided to throw us okes and a couple of our lady friends a braai. so a braai it was, and R25 vodka mint punch shit and some really kak fucking weed was on the cards. so dik gesuip we were, pissing every 5 minutes and drinking more cos the droogies was just unbearable. but these ladies were definitly not content with smoking and drinking that kak, so they bought themselves some wellingtons and a super disgusting bottle of olmeca. to say we were in our chops is an understatement, they were past cloud 9 bru.. making proper decisions these girls could not do, so a mate and i thought up some kak cheesy pick up lines around the corner, and then tried our luck with these betties. And in luck were!! Dik gesuip, dik gerook, virginities lost and a cracking new years we had!! P E A C E

I havent had a new years eve party for 3 years now, cause we had a baby and we could’nt go out. This year is our year for NYE PARTY and wev wana party hard to make it up.
