Filth – A brand on a mission.

It seems a long time ago that Finger arrived on the scene with the likes of Brad Morgan and Jay Z Geyer. They created a top of mind brand within the upper income bracket consumer group and did well to keep their brand in the public eye.

It seems a long time ago that Finger arrived on the scene with the likes of Brad Morgan and Jay Z Geyer. They created a top of mind brand within the upper income bracket consumer group and did well to keep their brand in the public eye. It became such an icon with regard to the Cape Town social scene, that people still think it is actually the exclusive attire that is meant to be worn at Caprice and Knoxville…

Inside the old Finger store.

The brand looked to grow itself  into the future, which led to the opening of the Finger store on Kloof Street. Seeing as though my friend was working at the Finger store, I know that they were having a problem with regard to foot traffic, as well as moving their clothing and apparel. Later they opened Knoxville which saw them take over the Wednesday nights within the Cape Town Club scene. This ultimately led to the closing of their only retail space, which could basically be called their store room as they were mainly storing stock and not selling it…

Quite a sick design!

Now, Filth Clothing has just made the big move from spare room office to a retail space.  I am still yet to visit the store, but have received some positive feedback and it looks as if they have done well so far. One problem they might run into is the fact that their brand awareness is not broad enough and they may initially struggle to achieve a profitable foot count in-store!

They produce garments for the filthy females too...No offence Shane 😉

I must say they have achieved a growing market share since 2008 and with all the new competitors around they have done well to stay afloat. They have some good ideas with regard to future growth and ‘going global’, which I can’t help but think will ensure they do much better than Finger and have clearly planned out the future of the Filth brand. Well done to Gray Bettison and his brasse and let’s hope that Filth can do a proper job of it and dominate the male clothing segment for years to come. Awe!

Gray looks good in Shane...I mean Shane looks good in Gray 😉

Just one question gents: I would love to know the address of the store, as well as a heads with regard to when the next fashion show/promo or sponsored event is being held?

I am new to blogging, so I feel like I am in the “just taking notes” phase. But when I do find a blog topic I like, I do comment because I genuinely like what has been said or the information was helpful to me. I am officially linked to your blog now, so I will be checking in often! Thanks for all the great advice.
