It is that time of the year again when all the happy and Gay people of Cape Town venture out of the cracks of De Waterkant and further than Bronx. Actually scrap that it goes beyond Cape Town and they also see loads of International and Domestic guests cuming through the doors (no pun intended). The event has grown massively since it’s inception and last year the spread (no pun intended again) was 60% straight and 40% gay, which included a shit load of young, trendy females. So if you are scared that someone may pull a move on you gents, according to the law of averages it is more likely to be a belter 😉
They are expecting 6000 – 10 000 people at this years event and the them is… “MAID IN CHINA”. The annual Fancy-dress themed party has always traditionally been known to kick-off the festive season and this year,and now in its 18th year, the “Maid in China” theme plays on the house maid theme as well as homage to the plastic mass-produced items we all know and recognize combined with Chinese culture.
Expect teams of marvelous moffie maids, dustpan dykes, hao kan heteros, sexy sequined straights, kung fu pandas, Bruce Lee Barbie’s, or plastic fantastics. Creativity is the name of the game, and the more spectacular the outfit, the greater the fun. Some teams can be 20 people or more – we expect many Gayshas and boys in kihomos!
This year, “Maid in China” party-goers can look forward to nine dance floors, three stages and three experiential areas, each with it’s own theme and music style. Tops Acts such as Crazy White Boy, The Commercial Hippies, Killer Robot, Pascal & Pearce, and DJ Ryan Dent are performing:
