After seeing the commotion this morning about Rocking The Daisies 2013 being SOLD OUT, I thought this might be a good time to spill the beans… My buddies over at RTD have given me a FULL WEEKEND pass for one lucky person to join me at this years festival!
If you’re still reading this it means you can take the image above that says SOLD OUT and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine… Because you may just not have missed the boat! If you have never been and forgot to get tickets like the rest of Cape Town, I really do feel your pain. This is by far the best LIVE music festival we have in South Africa and there is NO ONE who shouldn’t be able to experience #RTD2013 with me! I cannot wait to see The Hives, given I’m lucky enough to win. They’re the very band that’s the reason my lady (who I havent seen for a few months) and I fell for each other in the first place. Over a Hives song! It’s also her birthday, and I told her I couldn’t come, but a sneaky sneaky surprise would make us the happiest, most chaotic party goers at this year’s Rocking The Daisies by far!

I have to say that I’m most looking forward to seeing The Hives at RTD 2013! They have been one of my favorite bands for a very long time. I remember listening to Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones and just digging their sound! I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve seen a few YouTube videos of their live performance’s and they look SO sick!
And also I’ve been traveling South East Asia for the last 4 months and the 1st party I’m coming back to is RTD. No joke. It will hopefully be my 6th appearance at RTD and I hope its the best one so far!

When the eclectic vibrations of breezeblocks first emanated from my friends laptop I was befuddeled. I didn’t know quite what to make of this “most amazing band ever” that my friend has “discovered”. Then as the beats continued I found myself captivated emphored in the sounds , so unusual so different from anything I had heard or loved before (this was a bit far off from my usual commercial world of rihanna and the likes) . It had defied all odds alt-j had taken me on a mystical journey. The profound uniqueness of the sound transported my soul to a place where there are no boundaries, were the music becomes one and where that music has the power to morph how we see the world and ourselves. The more I listened, on the bus, on the jammie, in university at friends the more hypnotic the sounds became. To see them live would be an experience that would defy all sense of reality. It would be something that I would hold onto for the rest of my life, when I step onto the grass, dance at a party, draw- it will be carried with me. Please afford me this opportunity!! I have never been to rocking the daises and didn’t realise how fast the tickets would sell out. I simply cannot miss these musicians. Regards, simone

As far as international artists go, I’m by far most excited to Boys Noize! Such an awesome artist and producer he is. The truth however is that I’m more excited to see the local acts perform as the lineup that RTD has put together is unbelievable. I was unfortunately lazy and missed the boat buying a ticket :/ Winning a ticket would be amazing, and would help make this dreary 4th term of varsity more manageable 🙂

I have never gone to Rocking the daisies before and was looking forward to this year being the first time. I had planned to buy the ticket this week but before I could everything was sold out, I was going insane I didn’t know what to do. Please let this year still be the first time I experience the awesomeness that is rocking the daisies. The band’s that I had most looked forward to seeing are Zebra and Giraffe and Alt-J.
I am most looking forward to Alt-j… What an incredible band! I can’t believe Daisies has brought them to us! My piggy bank was almost full when the tickets sold out – all the nights of 2 minute noodles to save have been wasted, and I’m left with scurvy rather than a RTD ticket! Let’s hope that this isn’t the end of my story 🙂

well beyond the fact they are the headliner, im looking forward to them because they remind me of a great time in my life.
i was fortunate to discover them late last year but even luckier enough to really listen and understand them while i was in thailand. they instantly became the soundtrack to my travels, everywhere i went i was listening to them.
Thus if i was to have the fortunate luck to hear them live it would not simply transport me back to thailand, but it would take me to a new high never imagined.
to be honest i can’t put it into words how excited i would be if i saw them live, what i mentioned above comes no where near close to the emotions that i would be feeling at the time.
so therefore i am wishing, no begging more than anything else that i become the lucky one to win the ticket to see ALT-J.

So I’m actually entering this competition for my older sister, Tina. She doesn’t believe in social networks (I know right?!), so I’m hoping if i can win a ticket for her we can prove her wrong!! So, after only listening to one of Alt-J’s songs (the first one i ever heard was Tesselate), i was hooked! I did message the facebook page, Mr. Cape Town a few days ago, and I’m pretty sure you got a slight idea of what a crazy cat I am…now just imagine that fraction of what you know of me times by 20411 and times that number by 3….cause that’s what you be sending to Rocking the Daisies 2013 (it’s a good thing don’t worry)!!! Us four I promise you will be taking RTD on like true troopers, sleeping is for the week!
Our high fives will be too hard at Desmond and The Tutus, we’ll be down like animals with PH Fat, red bull will even feel energized with us raving and repeating too hard at the red bull studio and moshing at the main stage to the Hives, Hog Hoggidy Hog and alt-J won’t be moshing without us there!

I honestly can’t say I’m looking forward to only one specific band, cause I am most looking forward to the whole experience of Rocking the Daisies 2013!
From the bruises from the combination of moshing and jolling just that extra bit harder than your average human…
burst eardrums and blurry eye sight from being attracted like moths to the speakers and bright lights of the main stage…
the random smiles, hugs and kisses from the beautiful people around you…
the feeling of relieve created by the beautiful surroundings whilst only the best music plays in the background, helping you escape reality for a bit…
and even…
the scorching headaches the next day from that 1 extra black-label!
I want this in my life, with my friends right next to me jolling just as hard too the amazing artists at Rocking the Daisies 2013!
Don’t just do it for me and my friends…do it for Rocking the Daisies 2013 they need more; music crazed, people loving, jollers to the bones girls there!

Its my 20th birthday and there’s NO better celebration than going to the Daisies for the FIRST time since moving to the Cape to study last year! I’m absolutely buzzzzing to see Alt-J <3 and The Hives 😀 Just to name my top two favorite!

This festival was supposed to be my birthday present and first festival, but unfortunately my mom left buying tickets too late as I don’t think she realised that they sell out. My favourite international is The Hives. I’ve liked The Hives for quite a few years and my favourite memory of listening to them is my little sister (she’s five – she’d probably reprimand me for saying that and say instead that she’s five and a half – and lives in Pretoria so I only see her once a year) jumping around the room and getting the lyrics to “Wait a Minute” wrong as she just repeats, “Wait a minute now,” over and over. Otherwise, I would also love to see Alt-J because they’re just so fantastically weird and Al Bairre because I want to see Nic Preen crowdrafting. RTD would be a wonderful break from studying before final exams and I would be over the moon if you picked me.

Really looking forward to seeing Alt-J in South Africa after catching them at Coachella earlier this year. But for an artist I haven’t seen? Probably The Hives – loved those guys in the mid-2000’s!
