If you didn’t know already I am a HUGE Lucozade fan and am more than willing to pay the exorbitant prices they ask for their awesome beverage products. I have done an article before on this brand and it was praising them about the new packaging. Little did I know that their intention was to drop the glass bottle range altogether!!!
I had a call from my mate Ross, who runs my At The Bar section on my Blog and he is devastated that he has to settle for this small, plastic, measly new bottle. In all honesty, I think it was a great move from their perspective to launch the new plastic sports bottle, as it is perfect for people who are on the go and don’t want to worry about the problem of the glass packaging. But for some drinking Lucozade is more than just satisfying a need, for me and Ross it is a religion.
I live for my ice cold Apple/Orange flavour Lucozade after a night out and I want it in the glass bottle, not this crappy plastic thing! For those of you that did not know, it is actually healthier to consumer beverages out of glass than plastic! Not that I really care about that, I am just bleak they have taken their old lines off the shelves. Why not leave the consumers with a choice with regard to what packaging they need, for their specific situation?
Well, if I was in charge over there that is what I would have done! Another thing I really think they should look at is introducing Lucozade Sport to the South African market. I see all the Premier League players drinking it after their games and why on earth would they not already have a presence in our market? Weird if you ask me, or maybe just no pro-active enough to pick up on the growth of sport in our country…
I have written to the big boys at Lucozade and am waiting on a reply to see what exactly the situation with their brand is. This will definitely make an excellent sponsor for our Mr. Cape Town 5’s Futbol corporate football side too 😉 Lucozade for the win!!!
I dont agree, well at first i was livered. but have you actually tasted it in plastic?!, its actually better. and thats coming from someone who drinks it almost everyday. I think they made the decision due to cost and the ability to turn it into a weapon.
So im all for the platic bottle. The effect it has on the earth is a concern though.
The earth was my concern, the fact that it had a bigger outlet before, thats all Rosso!
Everything tastes better in glass though I will admit that. Although Miller pointed out something the other day; that it is a sports drink, so when we throw them in our cooler etc they wont break now! and we know how we get when there are cooler boxes around!
loving your blog mr! 🙂
thanks a mil Ricole. Wish I had more time to attend to it!!!
hope u well playa x
